Netflix is home to a wide variety of movies, from award-winning dramas to blockbuster Flicks. With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start. Here are a few of the awesome flicks to watch on Netflix right now:
1. The King of Staten Island (2020)
A dramedy brought to Netflix recently, directed and co-written by Judd Apatow, known for comedies like “Knocked Up,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” and “Trainwreck.” Just as the above films made Seth Rogen, Steve Carell, or Amy Schumer famous, “The King of Staten Island” should serve as a launch vehicle into Hollywood’s orbit for Pete Davidson, mainly known from his participation in the live comedy show “Saturday Night Live.”
Alongside Pete Davidson, the cast includes actors like Marisa Tomei and Steve Buscemi, in a story about a young man struggling to find his way in life. He lives with his mother, has no job, and smokes marijuana all day. However, changes in his mother’s life will lead him to confront his own issues.
Postmodern Verdict: We avoided it for a while until we finally hit “play” and watched it in one go. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s fresher and more enjoyable to watch compared to most new Netflix films.
2. I Used to Be Famous (2022)
A British comedy about a former boy band singer with some success who has become a failed adult. He attempts to reinvent himself by enlisting a young drummer with health problems into his “band.”
Postmodern Verdict: “I Used to Be Famous” is a lightweight film with good energy, but it’s only worth watching if you have no other options for the evening.
3. Dare to Touch the Stars (2022)
In our list of new Netflix films, we have another comedy, this time Italian, about a young woman who aims to overcome her anxieties with the help of her friends. It’s not a standout comedy; you won’t be rolling on the floor laughing, and it’s not particularly original. But if you want to unwind in the evening after work with landscapes and summer images from Italy (specifically from the picturesque Apulia region), plus light intrigues involving pleasant young characters, then “Dare to Touch the Stars” is for you. It is One Of the Best Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix.
4. Host Autumn Fall (2015): Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix
A new Netflix film in the lineup, “Host Autumn Fall” is the perfect fall production. We enjoyed this intimate Norwegian comedy with characters who love books in an autumnal Oslo. Yes, our recommendation is to give it a chance.
5. Lou (2022)
A Netflix action thriller with Oscar winner Allison Janney in the role of a grumpy old lady who proves to be very skillful in dealing with a young man who wants to harm her tenants.
6. Single 39 (2019): Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix
A Dutch comedy added to the Netflix lineup, but it’s not overflowing with humor and doesn’t excel in the screenplay department either. A career woman tries to build a trusting and friendly relationship with a man, but the compromise lacks the ingredient of physical attraction.
7. Loving Adults (2022)
Netflix kept recommending it to us, but it didn’t immediately catch our interest. Don’t make the same mistake we did The first original Danish Netflix film is a thriller in the unique style only the Nordics can pull off, one that sends chills down your spine.
Impeccably performed, “Loving Adults” is a Netflix thriller about how love can turn into hatred and even death. The tension within a marriage has been dramatized in countless films, but “Loving Adults” manages to give you chills like no other.
8. I Came By (2022): Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix
A new British Netflix thriller, this time produced by the Brits, is far above the quality that Netflix has accustomed us to in terms of thrillers from the American giant. A thriller with ideas that combines suspense with commentary on the significant differences between social strata in the UK.
A young man breaks into a former judge’s house to vandalize it – with the intention of making him feel vulnerable – but discovers something terrifying. The person he intended to make vulnerable is a dangerous “predator.”
From here, the wheels of the thriller are set in motion, involving more and more characters and kneading them into a scenario where you don’t know who will come out on top: the truth that has been covered up due to privilege and money or lies, which will once again prevail. These is One Of the Best Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix.
9. I Am All Girls (2022)
A new Netflix police film from South Africa. The film reflects on the trafficking of women and girls from all over the world. Power-abusing politicians wreak havoc in the lives of countless girls in South Africa. A determined policewoman, emotionally affected by the abuses she investigates, tries to crack down on a network that has been in operation for decades.
Their unlikely guide is a serial killer who leads the policemen from one place to another towards the heads of the network. “I Am All Girls” is more than a police film; it’s a drama that manages to convey how emotionally challenging it is to handle cases as a police officer.
10. Never Rarely Sometimes Always: Awesome Flicks To Watch On Netflix
A film from two years ago that just arrived on Netflix two weeks ago, and it’s one of our favorites.
It’s an American film with a distinctly European feel. With a slow pace, many things left unsaid, but all the more intense and weighty. Put simply, it’s about the drama of a teenager who becomes pregnant. But the story is told with such delicacy, discretion, and sensitivity that it’s more convincing than if it had been more direct and depicted physical or psychological abuse.
It greatly depends on what you want to see because it’s not a comfortable film to relax with in the evening after a day of work. Like the other new Netflix films on this list, this one is also at least inspired by real events. The film’s creator was inspired by a real case in Ireland, involving a woman of Indian origin who was denied an abortion by doctors and subsequently fell seriously ill…
11. Blonde (2022)
The highly anticipated “Blonde” was a big disappointment for us. A lengthy film with many pretensions and artistic contrivances, with the only good thing being Ana de Armas’ portrayal of Marilyn Monroe.
“Blonde” is a biographical film about Marilyn Monroe, portrayed by none other than Ana de Armas. You know Ana from “Knives Out,” where she’s the young woman on whom Christopher Palmer’s character relies for care. After collaborating on “Knives Out,” Daniel Craig recommended her as a Bond girl, so you also saw her in the latest James Bond film. The cast of “Blonde” also includes Adrien Brody and Bobby Cannavale.
