Brock Mansion: A Dystopian Action Crime Film Review

Brock Mansion: A Dystopian Action Crime Film Review

Set in a dystopian location known as the city of Jamol, Brock Mansion is a fast moving crime filled suspense thriller. The film that was shot in English in 2014, has now being made available in Hindi on Amazon2 recently thus reaching a wider audience base. The duration of the motion picture is roughly one and half hours and strongly revolves around a plot that encompasses race for power, unconditional love, and revenge.

Plot Overview

The plot centers around two key characters: Damian, an undercover policeman, and Lai who is a member of the city’s drug mafia. Disillusioned with his crime syndicate, Wai informs on the mafia group which of course backfires. The mafia leader then retaliates by capturing Wai’s girlfriend. This event brings together the paths of Lai and Damian which seem to be going in different directions.

On the other hand, Damian is assigned to the job of penetrating the mafia while preventing an impending disaster- a bomb planted that can wipe out the entire city. The uneasy cooperation between Damian and Lai grows during the process, moving the story towards a spellbinding conclusion. Whether they manage to rescue the city is the major part of the story line.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths:

  • Action Sequences: The movie offers a plethora of intense action scenes, complete with slow-motion effects and choreographed fight sequences. These are visually captivating and add a dynamic edge to the film.
  • Decent Production Quality: Despite being nearly a decade old, the film’s production design holds up well. The dystopian city setting is immersive, and the cinematography complements the gritty tone.
  • Predictable Yet Entertaining: While the storyline doesn’t break new ground, it remains engaging, especially for fans of action-crime dramas.

Weaknesses:

  • Lack of Novelty: The movie borrows heavily from familiar tropes in action cinema, making it predictable for seasoned viewers.
  • Unrealistic Elements: Some scenes, particularly the fight sequences, stray into the realm of implausibility, which may not appeal to all audiences.
  • Average Performances: While the cast delivers decent performances, they do little to elevate the film beyond its script.

Should You Watch It?

Brock Mansion is a comedy movie with lots of loops and twists that keeps the attention of the audience. For those who don’t go looking for too much, this works. The Hindi dubbing also helps regional viewers and with most of the language free of explicit material it is at least derisibly suitable for families albeit with a few strange scenes.

However if you are looking for something new or dare we say unique this is not the film for you. This film contains the same genre over and over again which may not sit well with viewers expecting something different.

Final Verdict

Brock Mansion is not likely an award winning film or a documentary but if you are looking for some decent entertainment then you should give it a watch. Whether you have time on your hands or are a fan of dystopic drama, you are bound to enjoy this film.
