Intimacy

Intimacy tells the story of Jay, a Londoner who used to be a musician, now working as a bartender. After separating from his wife and children, he goes in search of new beginnings, but now can’t help but struggle with forming new emotional attachments. His monotonous life consists of periods of extreme loneliness, intermingled with brief interactions with strangers- that is until, he meets Claire. Up until now, every Wednesday, Claire comes over to Jay’s place and the two engage in a completely wild and expressive sexual silence devoid of any emotions. They both assume or talk about how they will not use this boundless kind of physical connection to discuss what each of them does in their normal lives. Despite this casual attachment, Claire soon tries to develop an emotional connection with Jay, but Jay, wondering how Claire lives when they are not together, blocks her emotionally. After weeks of observing her against her wish, out of curiosity, Jay finds out that she is married to Andy (Timothy Spall), a theater actor. Jay begins to meddle emotionally with Claire’s life and decides to go see one of her plays. Instead of Jay keeping his distance, he unravels more and more layers peeling the trauma off of Claire’s life. Their relationship reaches a boiling point due to increasing pressure in such a scenario Aossa.
