📖 Synopsis

Hartley, an FBI profiler, is now tasked with hunting down the top art thieves in the world. An Interpol Red Notice – the highest form of international arrest warrant – is issued and he soon finds himself in a chase around the globe with Nolan Booth, a charming master amongst thieves, and the elusive Bishop, who is his cunning rival. Not only does Hartley have an assignment to do, he is also in charge of Red Notices where he works with Booth in a high tempo game of cat and mouse. With trust, and self-issues at stake, they must outsmart the Bishop, all the while trying to stay ahead of the authorities. In this action filled chase which includes constant double crossing and international elaborate heists, nothing seems to be what it really is.

The interaction between Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson is one of the most entertaining aspects of the film. Red Notice does not aim to reinvent the wheel but caters to the high budget, big name fans and allows them to experience a A list heist feature film. A blend of suave and sophistication is what makes this film special and while it may not change the genre, it does br ing exactly what you expect, which is, swift paced action, witty comebacks interspersed with otherheaded surprises, and action in exotic locations.

Ryan Reynolds settles in perfectly into his role and shines through with his impeccable comic timing, while Gal Gadot’s performance adds an extra layer of chaos with her femme fatale energy. While the plot does not break new boundaries, it is still entertaining enough for a relaxing movie night.

If you are a fan of Ocean’s Eleven or National Treasure, Red Notice provides a fun and entertaining adventure albeit lacking in depth.

Red Notice was Netflix’s biggest blockbuster of 2021, highlighting the dominance of high-budget action films produced exclusively for streaming.
