The Crow
In The Crow, a gang of thugs brutally murders Eric Draven (portrayed by Brandon Lee) along with his wife-to-be, Shelly. A year after their demise, Eric is resurrected by a mystical crow that bestows unique powers on him. Vengeance Evangelized, Eric sets out to kill the remaining members of the gang. With the help of the crow, he hunts down the remaining members of the gang while receiving guidance. He seeks justice while struggling with the memories of his former lover and his new objectives.
The film tells the story of love, loss and retribution through the juxtaposition of Crown City’s different urban settings and its supernatural attributes. These elements when combined leave a lasting impact to the audience. As a result of these blending styles, The Crow has received extensive critical recognition and lauding, while critics note praise the formidable imagery and action of the film.

Schow was awarded posthumously with a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor. Graeme Revell received a BMI Film Music Award for the evocative soundtrack during the film. Synthesizing revenge-thriller along with grief and love makes this film a visual and emotional masterpiece. Brandon Lee fulfilling the role of Eric Draven is as charismatic as it gets. Him dying on set after a tragic accident makes the already heart wrenching movie even more so. The film’s use of shadowy urban sceneries and the rock and industrial soundtrack depicts an atmosphere that is timeless. The film is on the grip of 90s grunge.
Cultural Significance
It cut across the dark subculture or goth movement, inspiring fashion and even music. The Crow managed to become popular mythic in nature due to the loss of Brandon Lee. The onset of which loomed over the film’s productions, and themes of the film left much to be desired for. The situation that spans from mortality to legacy at large was overshadowing, which made the movie a somber one. It was proficiently loaded by madness. Brandon Lee’s death was never meant to be. The comic was originally widespread to the public by James O’Barr after grieving over his fiancée’s death; the film seeks to heal its viewer by taking them through a cathartic experience.
