M. Night Shyamalan made some very good films and some very bad ones. His first collaboration with James McAvoy, Split, however, is one of his best and you can stream it now. Particularly McAvoy’s acting performance, representing a total of 23 personalities of the same character, is impressive and makes the film absolutely worth seeing. Split also surprised its audience with a Bruce Willis surprise when it opened in cinemas. From now on it is streaming at a flat rate on Amazon Prime Video.
Superhero film and psychological thriller at the same time: That’s what Split on Amazon is all about
That’s what it’s about:
After a birthday party, teenager Casey (Anya Taylor Joy) kidnapped from her father’s car along with two friends. The kidnapper Kevin (James McAvoy) has one Dissociative Identity Disorder. It houses a total of 23 different personalities. But everyone else is afraid of one personality: they name it “the beast”. The kidnapped teenage girls meet different sides of Kevin and learn that they are to be sacrificed to the beast. But Casey doesn’t want to wait idly for her death. That doesn’t exactly sound like a superhero movie. Without giving any spoilers, we can reveal that the film has an unexpected connection to the superhero classic Unbreakable ends – and a cameo from Bruce Willis.
